Embers

ViewersStreamersOpen your Embers →

Embers are BEAM’s virtual currency. You buy them with money, and one balance works across all of BEAM: on every channel, for BEAM Premium and in the BEAM store. Embers aren’t cash and can’t be withdrawn.

Your balance is next to the Ember icon at the top of the page, and in full in Settings → Embers, with your history.

  1. Sign in, then select the Ember balance at the top of the page.
  2. Select Get Embers.
  3. Pick a pack. Prices are shown on each pack.
  4. Choose how to pay (Card & Wallet, or PayPal where it’s offered) and select Buy.

When the purchase completes, the Embers are added to your balance straight away. You can also get to the same packs from Get More Embers while sending a gift.

To send Embers straight to a streamer:

  • Select Gift under the player, choose an amount and select Send gift.
  • Or, in chat, open the flair panel and use Or tip Embers to add a tip to your message.

Gifts are final and can’t be reversed.

Paid channel stickers, GIFs and flairs show their price. A price with the Ember icon is paid in Embers (others are priced in Sparks). Before a paid sticker or GIF is sent, BEAM asks you to confirm and shows which currency you’ll be charged in.

Embers can pay for BEAM Premium:

  • When you start Premium and your Embers cover the whole cost, you can pay with them alone (Activate with Embers, or Pay with Embers if you have a card saved).
  • To use Embers on renewals, turn on Pay with Embers in Settings → Premium. If your Embers cover the full renewal, your card isn’t charged; otherwise Embers cover part of it and the card pays the rest.

At checkout in the BEAM store, you can use part or all of your Ember balance towards the order.

If you have an Ember gift certificate, redeem its code:

  1. Go to Redeem Embers and sign in.
  2. Enter the code from your certificate (it looks like BEAM-A7X3-K9M2).
  3. Select Redeem. The Embers are added to your balance.

Viewers can send you Embers as tips, and pay Embers for the stickers, GIFs and flairs you price in Embers. Those Embers go to your own Ember balance. BEAM doesn’t currently take a platform fee on Ember tips or stickers; the Monetization Terms have the details.

To see what you’ve received, open Studio → Monetization → Embers. It shows your balance, what you added this month, Where your Embers come from (tips, stickers, GIFs, flairs and more) and Where your Embers went.

Embers you receive are yours to spend like any others: tip other channels, pay for Premium or shop in the BEAM store.

To charge Embers for something in your chat:

  • Stickers: in Studio → Customization, under Custom Stickers, set a sticker’s Price to Embers.
  • GIFs: in Chat Rules, select Edit chat rules and set the GIF Price.

For subscriptions and payouts, see Getting paid.
